Abilities: Black Knight One's mental discipline allow him to regenerate wounds, ingore pain, increase his reflexes, strenght, endurance, and awenwss slightly beyond normal human levels. It is considered that with the projects goals in mind that his abilities should be consider the new maximums of human abilty. His martial arts experitise focuses on counter strikes, discovering weak points and delievering blows that maim opponents. He uses a two foot rod of solid titanium referred to as his battlestaff, which was his early trademark item that gave him the name Knightstick. His military training includes all manner of foreign and domestic military weaponry, explosives, inflitration, stealth, survival, including Sniper and Ranger training.
Personality: Jack has realized that he has become a tool of his government, an instrument of death. A fact that he has become fed up with. Having been trained to kill without feeling or remorse, it became a question of why is he killing? What makes someone deserving of death...or mercy. He depends on the concept of redemption, for if the people he kills deserve death...surely he deserves it as well. He prefered working to recover criminals where the choice was easy and not his to make, surrender or die. When he was an assassin, there was no choice and he might as well been a robot. When Urban Blue died, he searched for a short time for something else in life. It is unclear what brought him back to the Marshal service, and less clear why he accepted Amanda Wallers offer to join the Knight of Checkmate. It seems to have been a poor choice on Amanda Waller's part to have selected such a unstable operative. For whatever Black Knight One has found, it has lead him astray from Checkmate.
1968-70? - The Deathstroke Project notes are lost. The Deathstroke Project: a program designed to unlock the full potential of the human brain.
1972 - A KGB agent is discovered trying to sneak into East Germany with a copy of the Deathstroke Project notes. His swift recovery gives the US Government anthor chance to restart the program, this time called Project: Standatd Bearer.
1973 - The first test subjects are born in military installation hospitals, thier parents believed stillborn. The children are taken to a secret base in Arizona where they begin training.
1980 - Test Subject Jack Slater, starts to show vast mental abilities over his own human body. He is able to regenerate, feel no pain, and push his body to the maximum levels in endurance, strenght, speed, and awareness. For the remainer of the project, he is the only test subject to show any progress.
1985 - Having shown no progress, the remaining test subjects are dismissed and placed in Military Schools. Records of the remaining test subjects are incomplete, but most commit suicide by the age of 15.
1989 - The recovered project notes of the Deathstroke program turn out to be incomplete and partially falsified. Dispite the success of the program, the scandal started events that would lead to the termination of the program. Project Standard-Bearer is considered a failure.
1990 - The program is finally terminated. The test subject Jack Slater is told that he may not leave Government service. He is then assigned to the Federal Marshals to help in the recapture of super powered fugitives. He is given the Code Name: Knightstick.
1992 - Jack Slater leaves the US Marshals and joins the US Army Rangers. Once he completes training he is assigned to the First Ranger Battalion where the CIA tasks him out to do covert operations and assassinations.
1993-1999 - *Classified by the National Security Agency and the CIA*
2000 - Jack Slater returns to the US Marshals. This time under the code name 'Vigilance', he is partnered with anthor operative 'Urban Blue'. Later 'Urban Blue' dies on duty. It was believed that the two were lovers for a breif time. The event effects Vigilance's abilities. It is discoverd at this time that his powers require strict discipline, a discipline that was sorely tested with the death of his partner. He is placed on inactive status.
2002 - Vigilance returnes to the Marshals, in control of his abilities again.
2003 - Vigilance is involuntarily reassigned to Checkmate, under Amanda Waller. Later that year he goes rouge, motivation unknown. There is no contact with this agent for sometime. He is code named at this time 'Black Knight One'
2004 - Black Knight One is seen in the West Coast area supporting and conducting criminal operations for various crime organizations. He has no clear allegence to anyone.

OOC notes: In 2001, Amanda Waller came to Jack Slater and helped him regain his discipline and control. In return she has assigned Black Knight One to become a rouge operative to infiltrate criminal organizations and bring them down. His return to the Marshals, his involuntary reassignment, and turning rogue is all a setup in which only Amanda Waller, Black Thorn, and Johnathan Ralsmith of the US Marshal service know. He is currently trying to infiltrate Roulette's criminal gambling arena, called 'The House'.
